Breaking Dawn Post #1

3. When are you surprised or confused? What does not fit? If something or someone does not make sense, write about it.

In the novel, Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer, the whole plot is abnormal. The story is based around impossible characters and events. It is a total play on imagination. In the books leading up to this final story, Bella and Edward fall in love and decide to get married. Edward is a non-human-eating vampire that goes to school with Bella. He is thousands of years old, but stuck in the body of an 18/19 year old. Bella is your average, awkward teenage girl who cannot seem to find her place in the world. In this final book, Bella and Edward are married. They have intercourse one night, against Edwards wishes. What surprised me happens next. The morning after Bella wakes up with a slight bump in her stomach. She realizes that she misses her period also. Miraculously, Bella finds out that she is pregnant with Edwards baby. It was known that two vampires could not conceive, but since Bella is not yet a vampire, it became the land of the unknown. I was surprised at how fast the baby grew inside of Bella. They called it a "monster." The baby destroyed Bella's health. It does not seem fitting that someone could categorize a baby as a monster. Usually, babies are seen as sweet, innocent, loving beings. They know no wrong. It is also not fitting how Bella's parents made no attempt to come and find her after she had been away for so long. Also, the amount of time Bella was pregnant until she gave birth was a lot shorter than the normal time for humans. One of my favorite parts of this book is when Bella is turned into a vampire in an effort to save her life. But, even though it is one of my favorite parts, it does not make too much sense. How could venom, something that usually kills living beings, be something that essentially saves someone's life? All in all, this book series is not meant to make sense. As I said before, it is just made up of imaginations and fantasy. Although those things do not make sense to me, they make the book serious one hundred times better.
